Shaping our strategy

Shaping our strategy

The theme of this year’s National Co-production Week organised by SCIE is, ‘Co-production in the real world’. Co-production offers the chance to transform social care and health provision to a model that offers people real choice and control.

In March our Housing Customer Partnership met in Leicester with senior managers from Advance. Part of the meeting looked at the new Advance strategy. Grant tells us what he thought about the meeting:

"It was a fun and interesting day, and we got to have our say about some important things.

We started by hearing from the Advance Board about the new Advance strategy and it was good to hear how feedback from us and other customers has made a difference to what is in it. I was glad that they are going to do more work on inclusion, because that is very important for people with disabilities.”.

Customers from different groups have been involved in shaping Advance’s new strategy and have agreed they want the focus to be on:

  • Secure homes that are safe, clean and well looked after
  • To feel supported
  • To be given choice

They also want us to:

  • Keep our focus on services for people with disabilities and Mental Health conditions
  • Increase the number of people we support into home ownership through the HOLD scheme

The term 'co-production' describes working in partnership by sharing power between people who draw on care and support, carers, families and citizens.
