Proud to support Carer's Week

Advance Service Manager, Daniel with Darryl's Mum, Tori

This week is Carer's Week. The focus of the week is staying healthy and connected. The idea behind Carer's Week is to build communities which support carers to look after their loved ones well, while recognising that they are individuals with health and wellbeing needs of their own.

In this short video Darryl's mum ,Tori and sister Christine, describe some of the challenges they faced as a family and also talk about the fun they had together. Since moving into his own flat in our extra-care scheme, Tolvean, in Cornwall, Tori and Christine have continued to be very much involved in Darryl's life and in the lives of Darryl's friends who live at the property.

Speaking about the support Darryl gets from Advance, Service Manager Daniel describes how Darryl has gained independence and skills through work and volunteering in areas of personal interest. Christine comments, "Darryl has grown in confidence a lot. He understands people more."
