Advance is 50!
We’re delighted that this year we are celebrating our 50th anniversary – that’s 50 years of delivering homes and support that aim to transform people’s lives.
Advance’s journey started in April 1974 when two people coming out of institutional care had a dream of living independently in their own community. That dream came true for those individuals and since then, for many more people.
Over the past 50 years, we’ve grown to become an organisation that houses and supports more than 3,500 people with Learning Disabilities and Mental Health conditions, all over the country. We employ more than 700 people and we work with a host of local authorities and other partners to help improve the quality of life of our customers.
We are also the leading provider of HOLD – the Government backed Home Ownership scheme for people with long term disabilities – having helped hundreds of people to fulfil their aspirations of owning their own home.
We know that being able to live as independently as possible, as part of the community and near to family friends has a hugely positive impact on people’s lives and contributes to positive outcomes for people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
We feel privileged that we have been part of so many people’s stories, and there are still many more people who could benefit from our services. That is why, while we look back and celebrate the last 50 years, we also look forward to the next 50, during which we are determined to continue serving the customers we have and extending our reach to many more.
