Melba Wilson shortlisted for `Women in Housing' awards

We are delighted to announce that Vice Chair of the Advance Board, Melba Wilson, has been shortlisted for the Women in Housing award in the category of `most effective Board member'.

Melba joined the Advance Board in September 2009 and became Vice Chair of Advance in 2012.  She took a lead role in the selection process for the current chair and is currently leading a sub-group to recruit the next chair. 

Melba has been a member of the Audit Committee since she joined Advance and is committed to ensuring the Board discharge its responsibilities.  She has worked hard to improve governance and in 2014 she was proactive in identifying and implementing the changes that needed to take place to modernise the governance of Advance and strengthen the Audit Committee. 

In her 8 years on the Advance Board Melba has overseen a significant amount of change and development within the organisation and is passionate about the service Advance provides to its customers.  Melba is also committed to ensuring our customers are able to reach their full potential and are supported to achieve their personal goals and aspirations.  She has worked closely with the National Customer Forum over a number of years to ensure she has detailed knowledge of the customer experience, when making decisions at the Board. 

The final awards will be announced on 2 November at a ceremony in Manchester.
