LDWeek23 - Making a difference

 The theme for this year’s Learning Disability Week,is 'Busting myths about living life with a learning disability'. We’re proud to support Mencap’s amazing annual campaign by showing some of the incredible things that people with a learning disability achieve every day.

Today we’re highlighting how the housing and support services received by customers in London has made a difference to their lives.

Kevin, David, Angela, and Joseph have shared a house together in Hackney for many years. Each person has their own room. They share a kitchen, living room, bathroom, and garden. They get along well and enjoy spending time together. Each person also takes part in activities of their own choice. As most people in the house are non-verbal, Support Workers communicate in a mixture of spoken language, signs, and Makaton. On working in this household, Support Manager Sharon says, “You want to make a difference”.
