Stephen Lawrence Day
Today is Stephen Lawrence Day
Stephen Lawrence is a household name in the UK. The 18-year-old from South London was murdered in a 1993 racially aggravated attack.
Service Manager and member of Advance's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Group, Paul Soodeen said "Stephen Lawrence’s death was one of those poignant moments that I will always remember. It brought the prevalence of racism that still exists in our society to the forefront of many peoples' minds. Campaigns and enquiries brought about through the work and commitment of Stephen's family meant that his death continued to make headlines and for the first time the police admitted to institutional racism. Since then there has been a drive by a number of organisations and institutions to look seriously at addressing discrimination and racism."
Advance are proud to support Stephen Lawrence Day. Getting involved is a chance to be part of a national conversation and show your commitment to creating a fairer society in which everyone has the opportunity to live their best life.More information here: https://stephenlawrenceday.org/
