Gaining confidence in office work

At Advance we encourage customers who want to volunteer with us as it helps to build their confidence and skills in the work place so that they can progress to paid employment.

We have a number of customers with learning disabilities both in paid employment and as volunteers at our different offices across England.

This week is Mencap's Learning Disability Work Week in which they provide advice on work placements and employment.

Tuu Mi helps out in the Hackney office every Tuesday with support from her staff team.

Being friendly and interested in others, Tuu Mi enjoys greeting visitors and asking them to sign in at reception.

Tuu Mi was quick to learn how to put customer packs and marketing materials together, showing great attention to detail.

In the future Tuu Mi hopes to get a part time job working other people as long as she gets enough time off to listen to her idol - Justin Bieber!
