New Executive Director of Support
Advance is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Brummitt as our new Executive Director of Support, further strengthening support services for people with disabilities and mental health conditions as we continue to build on our 50-year legacy.
Ryan brings more than 20 years’ experience in the housing, care and support sector, with the past decade spent in executive leadership roles across a range of organisations. He joined Advance in late 2025 and will lead the development and delivery of support services, with a strong focus on quality, effectiveness and enabling frontline teams to make a positive difference in customers’ lives.
Julie Layton, Chief Executive at Advance, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ryan to Advance. His deep sector experience, clear commitment to quality and strong leadership will continue to strengthen and develop our support services. Ryan will play a key role in ensuring we deliver positive, meaningful outcomes for the people we support – the heart of why we do what we do.”
Throughout his career, Ryan has held senior roles across both charity-led and privately funded organisations. His experience gives him a deep understanding of the diverse needs of people accessing our support services.
Ryan said: “I'm so pleased to have joined Advance, a values-driven organisation that genuinely lives its values in the way it works and supports people. Knowing that your personal values align with the organisation you go to work for every day is incredibly important. Advance has been here for 50 years and is clearly here for the long term – such a strong and positive story to share with colleagues, commissioners and partners.”
In his role, Ryan will focus on ensuring support services have a strong voice and that Advance continues to improve outcomes for the people it supports. His priorities include developing systems and foundations that support frontline teams – freeing up more time to spend with customers and ensuring processes are effective and well managed.
Since joining Advance, Ryan has been engaging with commissioners and key stakeholders to reinforce Advance’s long-term commitment to the sector and the communities it serves.
He added: “There is so much good work happening across Advance, especially at a frontline level. My role is about putting the right foundations in place so others can succeed and continue to deliver outstanding support for customers.”
Based in Liverpool and working remotely, outside of work Ryan is a hands-on dad to two children, reinforcing his passion for services that help people live independent and fulfilling lives.
