New gardening fund for Advance customers

We're thrilled to announce a new fund to support customer gardening activities!

Talking to customers about what more we could do to make staying at home more during lockdown easier, we heard lots of requests for gardening materials. As well the act of gardening has great wellbeing benefits, the results can make for a more enjoyable environment and even be used in activities (such as cooking).

Following a successful bid to the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, we are now able to help finance gardening projects for customers across Advance.

We encourage applications for a range of activities, including smaller projects such as window boxes for homes that don't have garden space. We also encourage groups to 'think green' when planning their projects:

  • Could you reuse pots to avoid plastic waste?
  • Could seedlings be started in biodegradable trays?
  • How could you be a friend to native wildlife?

This Coronavirus Community Support Fund grant comes hot on the heels of another successful application to The National Lottery Community fund by the Advance Collective. The Collective will be using some of this to trial online Collectives, making sure our customers' voices are still heard while distancing measures are still in place. Look out next week for more details on our first virtual Collective.

In the meantime - leg's get digging!
