National Disability Strategy
The Government has today published its National Disability Strategy. The aim is to improve the lives of the 14.1 million people living in the UK with a disability. The vision set out in the strategy is “to transform the everyday lives of disabled people”.
The strategy is made up of three parts:
- Immediate commitments to improving disabled people’s lives
- Including disabled people in policy making and service delivery
- Actions each government department will take
It is pleasing to see the strategy was the result of broad engagement with individuals with lived experiences as well as the views of organisations representing people with disabilities. We welcome the strategy and hope it leads to lasting change.
