BHM 2022: CA Team

Daniel and Dillan had a fantastic time visiting the Black History Month exhibition at Hackney Museum last week with Customer Activities Coordinator, Amy, and Support Worker, Greta from the Customer Activities Team.
The exhibition is called ‘Movers, Shakers and Community Makers’ and explores how African heritage individuals have shaped Hackney to be the borough it is today.
Daniel and Dillan enjoyed looking at the different objects and photograph displays. Daniel got particularly excited when he saw that a bag with Africa on matched his Africa necklace!
If you live near Hackney, the exhibition is running until January 7th 2023 – do go and have a look! The address is Hackney Museum, 1 Reading Lane, E8 1GQ.
There are also two sculptures of a man and woman outside Hackney Town Hall, commemorating the Windrush Generation (shown in top right image). They were created using the images of 30 members of the local community and a 3D scanning device. Read more about it here
As Black History Month draws to a close, make the most of the events being run by your local community! The BHM website has a list of events across the UK.
