Advance exists to enable people with either a learning disability or a mental health problem to realise their individual potential as valued citizens.
We have some important statements that sum up the things we believe in. We work hard to apply these statements to everything the Advance group does.
Everyone must be valued, and treated with dignity and respect
This means that we treat people as individuals.
Everyone has the right to live as independently as possible
This means that we give people as much help as they need to do the things they want to do.
Everyone has the right to privacy
This means that if people want to be private, we respect that as their right as far as we possibly can.
Everyone has the right to good quality housing in the community
This means that we offer people who use our services the sort of house or flat we would be proud to live in ourselves: either as a tenant or shared owner.
Everyone should have the opportunity to work according to their knowledge, skills and choices
This means that we will help people where we can to find meaningful paid work, stay in work or get back into work.
Everyone should have access to local community facilities and services
This means we try to make sure people can get to the local shops, health, wellbeing and leisure facilities, and other services, and that they should feel safe and confident about doing this.
Everyone can enjoy a life made richer by a wide circle of friendships and relationships
This means that we help people who use our services get to know other people, and get involved with other people or groups, if they want us to.
